I was in Lowe's on Brodie yesterday and happened to pass through the ceiling
fan and lighting area. They had over 50 boxes of 16 LED four foot tubes per
box on clearance for $17.23! That's a little over a dollar apiece! These are
Utilitech brand both 5000K (Bright white) and 6500K (Daylight) colors, and work
well in garage and workshop areas, but too white for kitchens.
Last year I bought over 300 of these but 4100K (neutral white) for our church
when they were all at their original price of $86 per box of 16. A few weeks
ago they had boxes of 4 tubes for $4.99 which I did buy the 5000K ones for my
garage. For some reason the 16 / box were still priced at $86 then.
Note that these LED tubes replace the 32 watt T8 (1" diameter) tubes not the
older, obsolete 40 watt T12 (1-1/2" diameter) tubes. The required ballasts
and wiring are different. They will not work correctly in a fixture for the 40
watt T12 tubes.
Note that at the Brodie Lowe's they are located not straight back from the
entrance where light bulbs are, but in the section next to electrical.
