Hi All,
Due to last week’s rain, staff was not able to complete much of the work
planned. This week, we will continue to reconstruct the center medians
while getting the extension of Davis to Leo in shape by preparing the
subgrade materials to receive the first lift of asphalt along with
constructing the new curb and gutter.
A private development project is in need of wastewater connections and has
contracted with our contractor to get this done, so this will take place
over the next three weeks. As of this morning, we intend to be at the
intersection of Leo and Davis into late June to start constructing the
roundabout.
Many of you have noticed the trees that have had to be removed for the
intersection improvements and were upset about it. I understand the
sensitivity about tree removal especially when we cannot plant more near
the location they were removed. We are planting more trees than we
removed. However, not all can go back close to the areas existing trees
were removed from. Just wanted to let the residents that had strong
concerns about this know that we understand and are doing our best to
remediate the situation.
Over the next couple of weeks we will continue with median work and getting
the road extension in shape for asphalt. With the rains, we are a week
behind as of today but have plans to make up the lost time by either
working some weekends or adding additional crews so that several areas can
be worked on at once.
