I'm estimating spending $300 for National Night Out. So, we would have
about $1100 to spend on the Holiday party and I'm guessing we will have 75
people attend this year. Puts us at $15/head, unless we need to pay for the
space too. I believe we spent almost $900 last year at Tres Amigos.

I'm working on securing a location for the holiday party. I've ruled out
Texican, as they charge $15 per person and $400 for the room. I'm going to
meet with the new owner of Sam's Town Point on Allred, who also happens to
be one of our neighbors. I'm not sure if the setting would work, but will
follow up when I have more details. We would need to cater the food there,
but maybe he would give us a neighborhood discount on the space. If you
have any other suggestions, I'm willing to make calls.

Just wanted to check in with a few things that had been accumulating on
my list:
- Cowan - As you may have heard through the grapevine, Cowan
expansion was taken off the bond projects list making more overcrowding
and
redrawing of boundaries a certainty. That said, I think that as a
neighborhood association we should be pleading a case to the CAC and AISD
board to help us keep our neighborhood bond strong by keeping all of COVNA
zoned to a single school with that carrying through from elementary to

effort at any schools that we are moved to increasing our impact. I am

- Neighborhood Poll - thoughts on doing an anonymous online poll for
some basic demographic info on the neighborhood? This would be building on
what Paco started but in a more anonymous way. It would be really helpful
as I am communicating with the city about neighborhood issues and might
even help build a case with AISD for boundary stuff. Could be something
like a google poll that we send a link out to. No identifying information
(i.e. address, names, contact info).
- Next newsletter - Have a few small items to add, nothing pressing.
Just wanting to see if we are waiting for next event (October) or if there
is one scheduled to go out ahead of that.
- Cityworks Academy - I have submitted my application to take part in
the City of Austin’s Cityworks Academy. I should hear back in next few
weeks if they have still have room. Just wanted to pass that info along
