Shuttle bus support discontinued during ongoing R Line work
RTD discontinued bus shuttle service for the R Line in Aurora on Sunday, Oct.
30, due to a lack of people power. As of that date, bus shuttles no longer
support the light rail line between the Florida and 13th Avenue stations. RTD
has determined that R Line service in the affected area will resume no earlier
than December.
R Line service will continue to operate between the Lincoln and Florida, and
13th Avenue and Peoria stations. The line remains suspended between the Florida
and 13th Avenue stations. No R Line or bus shuttle service is available at the
Aurora Metro Center or 2nd Avenue•Abilene stations.
RTD will continue to update customers and the public as new information becomes
available. Customers are encouraged to use RTD’s Trip Planner to plan ahead and
view commute options, and also to explore the Next Ride web app to see train
and bus locations in real time. |

Operator of the month
Each month, operators and other employees are highlighted for their exceptional
customer service. This month, bus operator Warren Shacklette agreed to staff
extra trips after he was scheduled to end his day because he saw customers
lined up and knew that the next bus had been canceled.

Help shape the future of RTD's fares
As a part of its systemwide fare study and equity analysis, RTD has developed
two fare structure alternatives as well as policies and programs designed to
make fares more equitable, affordable and simple. Visit the Fare Feedback
website to learn more about the proposed options and provide your feedback by
taking the proposed fares survey (available in English and in Spanish). The
survey closes Sunday, Nov. 6.
Customer and community input received this month will shape the final
recommended fare structure that will be available for public comment in early
2023.

Did you know?
It is no secret that Denverites are some of the most passionate sports fans in
the world, made even more true by the fact that Denver was recently named
“Hockey Town USA,” in honor of the Colorado Avalanche, University of Denver
Pioneers and the Denver East High School, all winning their respective
championships. Did you know that Denver is one of only 12 cities in the United
States with a team in each of the major five sports leagues (National Hockey
League, National Football League, National Basketball Association, Major League
Soccer and Major League Baseball)? The city even has a championship-winning
Major League Lacrosse team – the Colorado Mammoth. On top of that, the
University of Colorado Boulder is a National Collegiate Athletic Association
Division I university in one of the major college sports conferences (PAC-12),
and hosts stops on professional sports tours such as Monster Energy Supercross,
the American Motorcycle Association Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, Professional Bull
Riders and the National Hot Rod Association.

Tip of the Month: Winter is coming, and so are Colorado's traction laws
The snow is falling and the slopes are open, meaning the roads will be busy and
slippery. During severe winter storms, the Colorado Department of
Transportation (CDOT) will implement passenger vehicle traction and chain laws,
which require all drivers to have either four-wheel or all-wheel drive AND
tires with a snow or mud and snow (M+S icon) designation with a minimum of
3/16-inch tread depth. Vehicles that do not meet those requirements must have
chains or an approved alternative traction device on their tires. Motorists
that do not meet these requirements can be fined more than $130 — or, if
blocking the roadway because of not meeting the requirements, more than $650.
Learn more on CDOT’s website.
