Like refilled toners and ink carts in a warranty printer - it can only void
the warranty if the part in question causes the problem and then it's only
that particular instance that would be void not the entire warranty. Support
might be also limited without OEM parts - Compaq will not support a problem
witn non-Compaq memory in the machine during troubleshooting. When you call
Compaq for warranty support that might be memory related they tell you to
remove all non-warranty memory and cards first. Hp does that as well and
many clone builders do too. In most cases if a user installed non-OEM item
causes a problem they may be liable for the cost of a service call and any
parts needed, similar to the phone co charging a service call if you have
your own wiring inside and it's found that their equipment outside is not at
fault (assuming you don't have an inside wiring plan, I never have and it's
never been my equipment haha)
