Hey, y'all, Here's a copy of my call for papers. Enjoy! Oh, and submit! I am seeking submissions for my Rocky Mountain Modern Language = Association Panel for the "Practical Approaches to Teaching Culture" panel, to be presented at the 60th annual RMMLA convention in Tucson, AZ (October = 12-14, 2006). In today's multicultural American environment, it is imperative for = college instructors to integrate lessons which challenge our students to better understand culture. To do so, we must seek innovative, fun, and creative approaches toward doing so. How will we get our students engaged in understanding culture, so that it is applicable to their lives outside = of the classroom? What are some of the lessons you use to engage your = students in considering and analyzing the ideas of culture? This panel seeks creative yet critical approaches toward teaching culture in the = classroom. We would like to see equally creative and innovative presentations of = those lessons to the group, allowing attendees of this session to see and = discuss your lesson, review some handouts, view your PowerPoint presentations or even look over sample student writing. Get creative. Have fun with it! = =20 Please submit a 250-word abstract describing your presentation, what = audio visual aids you will need to present, and a short 100-word description = of yourself. =20 Deadline for abstracts: March 1, 2006. =20 Those who have been accepted to this panel will be notified by March 15, 2006. In order to present at this conference, those who are accepted must pay = the applicable RMMLA dues (by April 1) *AND* convention registration fee.
