Hey Fred, thanks for the kind words. I still think you’re being way too hard on
yourself. That’s a beautiful page.
I am a panel page and storytelling guy so “splashy” is not necessarily
something that is important to me.
Cheers

Thanks Mark.
Let's just say there are better, splashier examples?
But I do love it (and intend to keep it sadly for you, as I do 95-99% of my
art).
And agreed on Chiaramonte. He is not an inker I care much for. But he
destroyed many pencils by many artists I love and this one, while indeed too
light (there a spot in the trees in panel 2 he forgot to blacken I'd guess),
is by far not the worst combination with his inks I've seen.
Best, Fred

Hi Fred – –
Thanks for sharing this. I think it’s a fantastic page and I think you’re
being way too hard on it and yourself in your description on CAF.
Ploog pages are rare (as you point out) and this is a great example of his
storytelling and two nice panels of the monster.
If I had any critique it would be that I don’t think Chiaramonte is his best
inker. And on this page specifically I wish he had used a little more black.
(The page overall feels too light.) Maybe he was on a tight deadline and
running low on ink? 😁
But I think this page is a winner and one I would be proud to have in my
collection. So if you ever decide you get tired of it, just shoot me a note!
