I met Julie once or twice back in the halcyon days of the rise of the indies
when Kevin and Tundra were riding high (and for some reason a number of comic
artists had girlfriends who were, uh, exotic dancers/actresses) - she was
perfectly friendly and very tall! Her history of the riding accident is well
known, and so were her more recent troubles with, reportedly, dementia.
Medically the link between early dementia and traumatic brain injury is well
established, but I have no idea how true this may or may not have been for
Julie. However she died at the same age I am now, which is always sobering and
sadly so young. (You’re right George, it is rare.) A loss to the fantasy and
comics community which Julie is decidedly part of.

From the article, it looks like it stemmed from a horse riding accident in
her 20's.

That’s so sad!
And so (relatively) young.
