Many may not be aware that Gene drew a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror story for
me at Bongo. It was a parody of Tomb of Dracula, written by Marv Wolfman!
(The same issue had a Swamp Thing parody by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson,
and an Al Williamson parody of his “The Aliens” story from Weird fantasy
#17!)
Gene asked me if there were any 3-D versions of the characters that he could
borrow for reference, and I sent him a box full of Simpsons action figures.
He lit and photographed them so he could see how light and shadow worked on
the characters.
