Too long a story to relate and not really relevant, but I found myself
yesterday in the home of the son of the cartoonist Bill Crooks.
The son himself is retired – – he is a former airline pilot and possibly a
military pilot prior to that. I say this because I did not actually meet the
son.
But I did see several original art examples hanging on the walls. Lovely stuff
if pretty much derivative of Leslie Turner.
I wondered if anybody knew anything about Crooks or had any opinions? I have
been able to find very little of his comic strip art in the usual places on the
inter-webs. I was however pleased to see that he does have an entry, albeit
brief, in the Lambiek comical Comiclopedia.
