In recent times, major structural changes in international trade and investment have been observed such as: (i) the gravity of international trade and investment activity are shifting from traditional north to the emerging south; (ii) merchandise trade is declining while trade in services is increasing; (iii) FDI surge is visualized as a result of increased number of mergers & acquisitions and emerging MNCs; and (iv) the shift in FDI towards service sectors has been marked. This is of particular importance for the economy in many developing countries where development concerns have frequently been raised. The primary objective of the conference is to debate, deliberate and analyzes issues related to international trade and investment and their links with growth and development. The Conference aims at bringing together the researchers, academia, policy makers, civil society organizations, industry representatives and other scholars to an international forum for the dissemination of original research results, new ideas and practical experiences which concentrate on both theory and empirics. It is hoped that insights emerging from the conference will have an impact on researchers, academia and policy-makers so that trade and investment research becomes more objective, theoretically strong and need oriented.
