I just read a local high school newspaper that included some commentary
about US politics. A student editor wrote: Because most of our leaders
have backgrounds in law, their strength is not solving problems, it is
winning arguments. Sad, but true, commentary on the image of lawyers.
Hopefully our collaborative movement will ultimately impact the general
practice of law as well as the publics perception of our profession. Im
seeing positive changes in the expansion of mediation and collaborative
practice here, and I appreciate all that so many of you are doing
individually, through practice groups and through the IACP to foster those
changes.
