REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FROM COLLABORATIVE TRAINERS
King County Collaborative Law ("KCCL") is a non-profit association of
collaboratively trained professionals who are committed to transforming how
conflict is resolved through Collaborative Practice in western Washington
State. Our mission is to make collaborative practice the first choice in
dispute resolution by promoting and expanding collaborative practice, making
collaborative practice known to the public, and encouraging and fostering
collaborative practice excellence. One way we carry out our mission is by
offering training programs designed to introduce collaborative practice to
interested persons and by providing our members with opportunities to deepen
and expand their understanding of collaborative practice, and strengthen and
hone their collaborative skills. Toward that end, we want to offer
beginning, intermediate and advanced trainings to our constituents.
KCCL intends to sponsor interdisciplinary introductory and intermediate
continuing education training programs April 30 - May 3, 2008. We seek
proposals from individual trainers as well as teams of trainers who would
like to be considered to offer such trainings.
Topics: Trainings will include a basic interdisciplinary introduction to
collaborative practice (12 hour) proposed offering* on Wed/Thurs April 30 -
May 1, followed by an intermediate interdisciplinary team training (15 - 17
hour) commencing the evening of Thurs, May 1 - Sat, May 3. Content would
include a focus on the paradigm shift from adversarial to collaborative
practice, advanced listening and communication skills, interest based
negotiation skills, a client-centered approach to collaborative practice,
dynamics of productive teams, and other content/exercises designed to foster
excellence in collaborative practice from case beginning to end. Our goals
are to meet and exceed the IACP standards and to enhance our members'
knowledge, skills and practice at all levels. For the intermediate training,
this should include some content on transitioning the incomplete
collaborative case into another format whether team or client initiated.
The overall training format will include opportunities for informal
gathering and socializing both Friday evening and Saturday at the conclusion
of the training. Attendees will be encouraged to stay in residence.
Audience: KCCL is comprised of legal, financial, mental health and conflict
resolution professionals. Many of our members practice as part of an
interdisciplinary team. There is no one practice model that is used or
promoted by KCCL or its members. Training programs will be open to our
members, members of other collaborative practice associations and other
interested professionals seeking to meet the requirements for membership in
KCCL.
Dates: Basic Introductory Interdisciplinary Team Training (12 hour) April
30 - May 1. Intermediate Interdisciplinary Team Training (15 - 17 hour)
commencing evening of May 1 - May 3, 2008.
*If you are interested in providing this training, but can not meet these
exact dates, please provide us suggested dates and we will consider same
along with your proposal.
Locations: KCCL will be holding the trainings in the Puget Sound Region of
Western Washington (i.e., the greater Seattle-Tacoma area).
Continuing Education Requirements: Written materials are required.
Materials should contain substantive and practical resource information of
durable benefit to participants. Trainers are responsible for securing
reprinting permission of any copyright materials. Participant evaluations
of the program and trainers are also required.
Deadline for Submission: MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2007. Trainers will be
notified by no later than Friday, January 11th.

* Title and summary program description
* Detailed program description, including minimum 1 hour ethics
presentation
* Teaching methods to be used
* Names and CV's of all trainers, including a description of each
trainer's experience in collaborative practice and training. (To the extent
that additional on-site trainers, role players for demonstrations or coaches
for role play exercises may be needed, we encourage the use of local,
experienced collaborative practitioners, which we are happy to assist with.)
* On-site and equipment needs (This includes room configurations)
* Trainer fees
* Per diem costs
* Targeted audience (This includes any professional focus, minimum
and/or maximum number of participants, practice areas, etc.)
