Hello all!
I've been assembling the data that has been provided over the past
couple of months and thought I would share some comments about what I have.
First, about 150 completed cases have been shared.

It has lagged in the past couple of weeks, I'm guessing that's just an
August slowdown.
My hope is that a more effecient means of doing all this will surface,
but in the meantime at least we have something to tell potential clients,
other colleagues, the press, referral sources, our friends who thing we're
crazy...etc.
So here goes:
* 141 of the cases were reported by Attorneys. ONLY four by
coaches or financials.
* 14 of the reported cases involved coaches; 17 used child
specialists; 26 financials; 11 both specialists; 4 brought in a
mediator.
* 33 cases involved no children; 32 had 1 child; 59 more than 1.
* 103 of the cases involved a first divorce for both spouses; in 14
one or the other had previously been divorced; in 8, both had been
divorced before.
* 10 couples had a family income less than 50K; 8 were greater than
500K; 39 were between 50 and 100K; 67 were between 100 and 500
K.
* 86 cases both spouses had completed college; 22 one spouse
completed college; in 13 both had completed high school; in 2 only 1
spouse had finished high school.
* 114 cases ended in agreements; 7 couples reconciled; 16 went to
litigation
In terms of fees:
Where the total fees for the collaborative case were:
0-5K - (24 cases) - 8 estimated litigation would cost 5-10K; 5 said 10-20K; 2
over 25K; and 2 over 75K
5-10K - (36 cases) 5 estimated litigation would cost5-10K; 15 said 10-20K; 7
said 20-40K; 7 said 40-75K; 2 said 100K
10-20K - (40 cases) - 12 estimated litigation would cost15-40K; 13 said
40-60K; 10 said 60-100+K
25-100K - (20 cases) - 6 estimated litigation would cost 50-75K; 14 said
75-100+K
There were also two totally open questions: "What was the most difficult
issue? What part of the process helped the most?" I'm not going to try to
summarize those, but would be happy to share the comments with anyone who would
like
to look them over.
One element I have not yet included in the data gathering is "how long
does it take". One attorney shared info on 16 additional cases [not
matching my data so I couldn't put them into the spreasheet]. Of the 16
cases, NONE took longer than 6 months; two were done in less than 6 weeks.
