I am very glad to see so many professionals regarding the role of designing the
shared parenting plan as separate from those of coaching the families or
individuals. When I help parents design shared parenting plans, I find it
invaluable to have the coach present. Because the role of coaching focuses on
facilitation communication between the parents (and the team) and the role of
the child specialist may be to design a shared parenting plan and reference
research and relevant information regarding the children, I do see the roles as
separate and a conflict of interest. I know there has been discussion on this
board regarding this in the past, but I am pleased to see it incorporated so
heavily in to what other folks are doing.
