Jeff,
Thanks for your thoughts. Doing collaborative law in connection with business
disputes is actually my goal. I am already involved in civil collaborative law
groups and have spoken with Paul and Michael. My problem is, and the reason for
this question is, that I have never done a collaborative case. The most likely
place for me to gain that experience in a domestic case.

Richard, another possibility: have you thought of combining your interest in
Collaborative Law with your business transaction background, and applying it
in Civil Collaborative Practice? That's Paul Faxon's background, and he and
Michael Zeytoonian (Massachussets) did I think the first business
Collaborative Law case.
And I think your psych background would be a real asset in this area.
You can find others who are thinking this way at the CivilCollaborative

Subject: [CollabLaw] Is litigation experience required?
I am a business lawyer and have never litigated any case, let alone a
divorce case. I have no prior experience with divorce law. I have a strong
background in negotiating business transactions, usually with a win-win
mentality. I also have a background as a psychotherapist and can bring those
skills to bear in a collaborative case. For what it's worth, in workshops
it's my sense that I have the basic skills to do collaborative law well.
I would like to take on a collaborative divorce case. Someone gave me
feedback that he thought would be difficult to for me to act as a
collaborative attorney without having litigated first.
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks.
