I've been following this listserv exchange with great interest, too!
We at IACP are delighted that so many collaborative practice groups are now
requiring that their members also be members of IACP.
More and more practice groups are making this commitment to the
collaborative community.
For all those who are interested, here are the brief guidelines for
"required" groups.
There are now two ways in which IACP dues can be submitted:
1. All IACP dues for your group members may be submitted by the group
chair or primary contact person. Please have your members fill out the
Membership Application Form, which can be found on the IACP website at
<http://www.collaborativepractice.com/t2.asp?T=Membership>
http://www.collaborativepractice.com/t2.asp?T=Membership. You may send one
check for all, or you may send individual checks made payable to IACP, or
Visa/MasterCard information. If you would like to synchronize your group
dues and the IACP dues (many groups collect them together), you may collect
a pro-rated amount (@$8/month) and let me know the effective dates of the
memberships.
2. In July of this year, we implemented a new alternative: it is now
possible for members of required groups to join and renew easily online.
When a member of a required group joins or renews online, the discounted fee
of $95.00 appears as the appropriate membership rate. Members can join or
renew at any time. We ask only that group chairs monitor their members'
IACP status and ensure that they join/renew on a timely basis.
IACP memberships are tracked on an "anniversary" basis, so memberships are
good for one year from the date they are activated with the Member Profile
on the website.
To initiate the "required" option, simply have your group chair send a
letter to me at the address below,
* certifying that your group requires all members to be members of
IACP,
* including a current list of all your group members, and
* indicating whether your group wishes to submit dues collectively
by the group chair, or individually online.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
All the best,
Paula

Subject: [CollabLaw] IACP Membership
When the Collaborative Law Institute of Ga. started we felt it was
improtant for all of our members to be members in the IACP. We wanted
to make it easy for our members to join the IACP. Since there is a
reduced rate if your group requires IACP membership, we worked the
discount price into our regular membership. Now our members only write
one check and we then send a check to the IACP for all of our members
at one time. Now we know that if they are a member of the
Collaborative Law Institute of Ga. they are also a member of the IACP.
