Let me add my best wishes to the chorus singing your song. I often say
to my own family, I am glad you were born. And, as Pauline says, I
am. There are two basic theories of history. One speaks (as Marx
does) of forces and the other speaks of charismatic leaders. While I
do subscribe to the importance of forces, I also think that leader,
inspired and inspiring, make a very real difference. They require that
we move past what we find safe and comfortable and explore new
possibilities in the world and in ourselves. Thank you, Stu for
stepping out into the sea when the waters were still churning and had
not yet parted so that we could see the way forward. You found the
