Hello All:
We had our monthly conference call for those interested in civil/commercial
applications of collaborative law. Exciting things are happening on this
front! The Boston group continues to brave new frontiers in using
collaborative law outside the family law frontier. The Dallas group is also
especially active, developing protocols for practice and forming a new group
the Texas Collaborative Lawyers Council, Inc. We had a new group from the
Miami area join our last call.
The conference call has been a wonderful forum for individuals and groups to
share ideas and inspiration. One of the issues we are exploring is how
groups can work more effectively on a national level to develop marketing
materials and approaches for civil/business clients, as well as standards
for practice in civil, business and other practice areas.
One thing I wanted to mention is that there will be a number of events at
the IACP forum relating to civil and business applications of collaborative
law on the 23rd, including a breakfast networking and brainstorming event, a
session that afternoon dedicated to business applications of CL moderated by
Stuart Robbins of the Boston area, and a dinner that evening at the Marche
restaurant in Boston. Information about the Forum is posted at the IACP

If you are interested in expanding the use of CL in non-family practice
areas, please join us in Boston to take the movement to the next level. Or,
join our call next month. We meet every month on the 2nd Wednesday at 4:00
p.m. Eastern. Next month's call will be on September 8th. I usually send
