We continue to urge our riders to be our “Partners in Safety” and wear a
mask or face covering when using RTD services.
The attached sign is on all of our buses and trains. With rear-door
boarding, it is difficult for operators to monitor if everyone who gets on
their bus is wearing a mask. But more importantly, we will not put our
operators in the position of being enforcers when they need to be focused
on moving people safely. We are limiting capacity to 15 on standard buses,
20 on larger buses and 30 on rail cars. When bus routes are experiencing
ridership beyond capacity limits, operators are calling dispatch to deploy
buses that are staged in those areas. We encourage everyone to be
responsible and follow health orders and protocols – wear masks, practice
social distancing, and be our partners in safety.

*Telephone Town Halls *
RTD has wrapped up a series of 15 virtual town halls in each of RTD’s 15
Board of Directors districts. The telephone town hall meetings focused on
the agency’s response to the pandemic crisis, and were a chance for the
public to ask questions about how RTD is addressing COVID-19 or any other
RTD matters. More than 16,700 Denver metro residents participated in the
town halls. Callers asked questions of their respective Board member and
RTD staff. The most frequently asked questions included:
- What are you doing to keep riders and operators safe?
- Are masks required to ride RTD?
- How long will fare collection be suspended?
- How is RTD managing the financial impact of COVID-19?
- When will more service be phased back in?
