Hi Margot,
My data were for sediment which I sampled in the Port Edward area in 2014 &
2017. I dug through old emails, and eventually found one which had a link to
the data repository:

Dataset: Carbon data for intertidal soils and sediments, Skeena River estuary,

Tidal marsh soils were sampled at low tide along 12 transects along the Skeena
River estuary south of Port Edward, British Columbia, in 2014 and 2017. Eight
of the transects were on the northeast side of the channel; four were on the
southwest side. Sampling locations were stratified according to vegetation
type. Usually three pits were excavated to 1 m depth on each transect, with one
pit in ...

My last correspondence was last June with someone called Jaxine Smith at
Smithsonian. She said that the data were accessible through this portal:

I'm not aware that they've been included in any publications yet.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,
We contributed to and reviewed this update to the CEC maps.
They are for seagrass (and some marsh) extent/area only (Cascadia region), not
sediment carbon values.
(and the seagrass data is missing quite a bit of info - there is a new effort
afoot in Canada to refine this).
Are you talking about the Kaufman et al. paper? or the Prentice et al. seagrass
one. Both compile sediment stock data from our region.

Thanks for this update.
I was curious to see if this work included some new data that I'd submitted a
couple of years ago to a consortium based in Oregon (I think; sorry, don't
remember the name).
The link that you provided has another link to "Description and Metadata", and
I clicked on this in case it might document the data sources. This resulted in
the download of a file with the extension .rar - and no instructions on which
software can read it. (I tried Notepad, and got a screen full of Chinese
characters.) Not very helpful!
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Paul Sanborn

New map of coastal carbon released. I haven't downloaded it or read through
the associated publications, but could be useful.
