I agree with Rachel about the interface of telnet. I found it confusing and it left me with a feeling of "computer vertigo". I have always liked the ability to enter direct commands in MS-Dos, but telnet hack-jobs DOS's careful interface, making it much less user-friendly than I would prefer. It is also used to connect to devices that do not have a windows or similar gui interface installed. It is a protocol that uses the ip address of systems to connect. This is all based on commands and switches rather than mouse clicks on a window. Which is why I try and avoid it as much as possible or I'm looking up advanced prompts all day long at work! :-) I went to telnet://140.147.254.3 and bleh, I'll stick with my nice gui, I'm spoiled. LOL I have learned more about telnet'ing via the http//www.microsoft.com website.
