I totally agree. We had a problem with porn ads that would pop up even when
our browser was not open. Obviously, having an always on cable connection
didn't help either. I spend a significant amount of time trying to set some
privacy filters within Internet Explorer with only partial success. I
finally downloaded a popular utility Spybot. Once I ran that utility, my
problem was solved!

> Spyware and Adware programs are nasty little programs you can pick up from
the internet. The part about them that I dislike the most is their sneeky
nature. They can and will install themselves on your computer without your
knowledge. Once installed they can cause PoP up windows(Adware) or track
your every move on the internet (spyware). In some extreme cases Spyware can
also keep track of email addresses you use, what you type on your keyboard,
what games you play.. Basically everything you do on your computer.
Spyware programs then report this information back to their homeservers.
These programs are nothing short of complete and total invasion of privacy
and it makes me sick that they are legal.

operating system is notorious for keeping detailed tracks of where you are
going. Spyware and Adware commonly can see and use this information.
Window washer (through an easy to use interface) can erase these tracks.

three, but I use them for more than just privacy. Spyware and Adware
programs can really use up your system resourses. I like my machine running
only what I tell it to and I like my machine running at top performance.
