I haven’t heard from everybody in response to my proposal, but if everyone
concurs that would mean that we have a full slate to present to Ken for actual
negotiation with distributors. Assuming that there are no complications (price
issues, plans to otherwise show any of our film choices, etc.), we would be
finished with the film selection process. At that point, we probably should
address issues like special guests, promotional strategies, etc. for particular
films. I would like to invite Mike to attend if we are at that point. So in
answer to your question, I think it would still be good to keep the meeting
next Thursday in the calendar. Joel From: cinemaexp-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

because we were unable to see any reviews of “HOLY AIR.” However, just because
they weren’t catalogued in Metacritic or Rottentomatoes doesn’t mean there
haven’t been any reviews. I have found four reviews:

They are all quite positive and may ease our concerns about taking a shot
with this films. You may also find it helpful to know the film won a special
FIPRESCI Prize at the Jerusalem Film Festival for: "’Holy Air’ is a good
crossover between comedy and drama about serious issues reflecting religious
and political complexities in modern Israeli society." I don’t know about each
of you, but I’m comfortable with adding it into our film series. The schedule I
outlined below I believe is consistent with our discussion today and our rough
consensus about the first four weekends for the series if we decided to include
“HOLY AIR” in the series. Obviously, that puts “1945” and “THE OTHER SIDE OF
HOPE” in the 5th and 6th positions. My preference would be to put “1945” in the
5th slot because it has had an earlier opening and, therefore, could be more
likely to go to DVD, VOD, or Netflix sooner than “THE OTHER SIDE OF HOPE.” This
may be unfounded, but in that Janus Films distributes lots of older films
theatrically I would see it as less likely to be looking to quickly move it
onto other platforms. If someone has a counter-argument for reversing the order
of those two, I would be interested in learning about it. Opening Film 1/6-7(2)
