I was out on IPCO Islander today to Santa Rosa Island to lead the day hike. As
we approached the pier in Beechers Bay, we observed four gray whales feeding in
the shallow waters.. This behavior has been observed for several months and it
is not sure if it is the same grays or new arrivals. The grays we observed
today were mature and full bodied; fat as Cpt. Luke described. Time will tell
if they stick around for the summer or head north. IPCO is out at SRI three
times a week so we should get good data on observations.
