The trip got off to a great start with 3 bottlenose dolphin in the
harbor. Saw many small pods of common dolphin on our way out, then spent
some time with a mega pod after we passed Platform Gina they were still
there on our return trip.
As we headed towards Anacap, several spouts were sighted. We passed the
island to the east, and found ourselves in a pod of Orca - 14 at least!
While tracking the orca, we had a quick look at 2 smaller whales-Minke
maybe.
Still outside and to the east of Anacapa, 3 fin whales were found. We
followed them for a while, then returned to the orcas before heading for
the harbor.
Saw a few more dolphin on the way in-not big pods, but all the way in,
with lots of calves. It was a beautiful calm day on the water-no bags were
necessary!
Thanks to Captains Jake & Jeff, and Zack in the galley, for another great
trip.
