Yes, Judy, I understood that to be the case, that's why I was questioning
the email. Perhaps she went on her own but she posted as a Naturalist. That
was confusing. I am scheduled to go out Sunday and, unfortunately, I'm sure
the shutdown will still be going on. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't
expected.

AM & PM Trips:

* several sizes of Common dolphin pods, the largest in the PM trip at
approximately 2,000 dolphins.

Captain warned us it was rough in the open ocean, although it was
deceivingly calm when we left harbor. It got rough as soon as we went over
the breakwater. The strong winds subsided as we approached Anacapa Is., to
the relief of many nauseous passengers. The day was very cold but
absolutely clear/sunny. We were able to see AI and SCI perfectly clear from
the start of the trip.
Although we didn’t see any whales, people were fascinated by the many
Common dolphins we saw along the way both in the AM & PM trips.
Particularly the huge dispersed pod of Commons, as far as the eye could
see, to everyone’s delight. Captain Alex and his crew took us around the
back of Anacapa Is. where everyone enjoyed the sea lions sunning themselves
(and calling) on the rocks. Seeing a huge Stellar Sea lion also there was a
real treat! Many passengers were taking pictures. Passengers from Sweden,
Michigan, New York, San Francisco, Boston, Arizona, Simi Valley, and
Newbury Park and others, were happy to have been out on the water on such a
lovely day! Maria Ornelas was Volunteer Naturalist.
