👍 An old timer who lived as a kid in the summers with his family in one of the
first “cabins” on Solamar Beach told me they got there fresh water by hauling
it from Fosters Park area: Never a failure. He went Steal-head fishing in the
river every year as well. I caught Steelhead there in the late 60s. Cheers,

World Rivers Day is Saturday, September 26th.
This year, the Ventura River will flow.
For twenty years, Santa Barbara Channelkeeper has advocated on the Ventura
River’s behalf to end over-pumping, restore flows, and ensure the river’s
health and ecological richness.
We're pleased to share that on August 5th the City of Ventura, for the first
time in history, stopped all pumping at its well field at Foster Park,
specifically to restore flows to the parched river ecosystem. Within days,
the sights and sounds of more water, wildlife, and people were noticeable as
flows rebounded.
The pause in pumping is not only a positive step for the health of the
river, its ecosystems, and the surrounding community, it represents a
significant achievement in Santa Barbara Channelkeeper’s ongoing efforts to
protect the Ventura River.
While there's far more work to be done, it's reassuring to know that our
advocacy is making a difference — by helping river ecosystems survive and
allowing families to enjoy the restorative power of the river.
In honor of World Rivers Day, September 26, we invite you to enjoy these
