Collegues,
Captain Alex ferried a full boat over to Scorpion Anchorage Sunday aboard
the Is. Adventure. On the crossing fully a third aboard saw their first
whale from a boat: One large Humpback, dive feeding and showing many flukes.
Also, all aboard enjoyed viewing a total of 500+ Common Dolphin. 110 visitors
got off at Scorpion and the remainder went on the Prisoners Harbor. I had 15
kayakers in my kayak orientation who had their own kayaks, and the on site
company maxed out with all their guided kayak tours with their kayakers off
loading from our boat and the previous IPCP boat. There was a beautifully
calm kayaking sea for them and all caves were explored!
I had 36 join me on my Cavern Point hike. They were a delightful group,
especially one 3 1/2 year old who counted all of our fox and Scrub Jay
sightings ( 13 and 1 respectively ). 10 of our hikers arranged to join us
only to the turn to the steep climb, but they enjoyed the intro. The overcast
never lifted during our hike, so our viewing did not include the mainland.
But our 3 year old enjoyed counting the kayakers we saw way down below!
Cheers, Paul P.S. I encourage those not yet hooked up with island hikes to
get certified and join the fun and wonders to be shared with friendly folks.
