Thanks, Paul.
I had 30 as well on the Harris Point hike. Captain Alex took us to the cove
beneath Harris Point to see at least a 100 elephant seals. We also noticed a
Steller sea lion on a rock east of the cove. The adjacent beach further east
was filled with CA sea lions. It was a spectacular day.

We are given only so many days, make each one count.

Ahoy Collegues,Second try on our new CINC list,
Saturday IPCO’s Island Adventure ferried a full boat straight to SMI for a
fantastic trip end of the season SMI day trip. The weather was warm, windless
and all around fantastic! The skipper diverted a bit off Santa Rosa to share
info with us all about pod of 1000 Short Beak Dolphin. They seemed to me to
haves shorter dorsal fins as well? But is was obvious they had different
markings and leaping behavior than the usual Long Beaked Dolphin we see.
Ian Williams was the ranger on SMI, and joined us on the way home. He got a
hearty and appreciative round of applause from all aboard when the crew
announced his soon to come retirement!
Catherine French was my partner and took a large group toward Harris Point.
I took 30 hikers to the Caleche Forest. Ian handled the rest on the beach and
up to the Ranger Station. We saw a very active pair of Peregrine Falcons put
on a show for us in Nidever Canyon, too! Our trip home also included a very
deep peak into the painted Cave, to every one’s delight. Cheers, Paul
