2 juvenile Gray whales, north bound2 adult Gray whales, north bound0 dolphin
Captains Dave, Tasha, Colton. Naturalists Rosie Romo, Linda Knowlton Just out
of the harbor where we had been looking at the Harbor seals, blows of the 2
juveniles were spotted by a sharp eyed passenger from LA. We cruised (albeit
slowly) with these for about an hour. Most of the passengers were new to whale
watching, so they were thrilled to be able to get such close looks. We headed
out towards Anacapa and found the 2 adults before reaching the shipping lanes.
Passengers got to see the same activity, only on a much larger scale. These 2
were impressive and traveled much faster. Noteworthy: zero dolphin, few birds.
First time since I've been taking these trips that I haven't seen dolphin. An
interesting group of passengers, with lots of questions, from Germany, South
Africa, Canada, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, Colorado, Los Angeles and locals.
There were clouds, but we still could see 3 of the islands. It was a smooth
ride. Lovely to be on the water again.Linda Sent from Samsung tablet
