7 Humpbacks
Thousands of Common Dolphins
Passengers from around the globe and locally enjoyed a brighter start to the
trip than yesterday. We left the harbor with blue skies, a few clouds, and some
warm sunshine (what one would expect from a late August day in Santa Barbara).
Not long after passing the buoy, we were greeted by a nice pod of Common
Dolphins. We headed southwest and came across a solo Humpback with more in the
distance. We continued throughout the day not as far as yesterday but southwest
and continued to come across a total of 6 more throughout our cruise. Some were
traveling fast, we saw a few tail throws, some flukes, and if you were lucky
enough to see it, one whale demonstrated some lunge feeding. Dolphins were
everywhere and while there were a couple of people not feeling well, they
managed to have some good views of the marine life in our channel before
finding a comfortable spot to close their eyes and forget all about their
stomachs.
Another lovely day on the Condor!
Until I board again....
Sue
