Sightings
2 Humpbacks with other spouts around
Several large pods of common dolphin
It was a beautiful morning - we could actually see Santa Cruz as we left the
harbor.
We encountered our first pod of dolphin just after leaving the harbor. We went
southwest toward the end of Santa Cruz, where we met another pod of dolphin and
our first very shy humpback.
We then ran southeast, moving toward the east end of the island, where we found
a humpback that stayed with us for over an hour with a lot of great
behaviors-tail sweeps, pec slaps, lunge feeding, etc.
It was a long run back, but well worth it. Another great crowd of people,
international as well as locals.
Captain Colton, Devon & Austin did their usual great job.
With me today was Toni Bailey as naturalist, Kevin Bailey & Rosie Romo doing
PID.
Gratefully,
Del Hanson
