Shortly after setting out we were rewarded with a bait ball and about 200
common Dolphins cavorting around the boat. After traveling a bit farther out we
encountered our first two of four Blue Whales which were just traveling along
rather leisurely. After watching them for a bit we sighted more whales even
farther out. Found two more Blue Whales there. These put on quite a spectacular
show of blowing and fluking. There had to have been more whales out even
further because at one time we could see another 4 spouts at the same time on
the horizon. We did not have time to investigate those.
Guests from Denmark, Germany, and the US enjoyed their up close views. For many
it was their first whales.
Captain Dave, Second Captain Tasha, and Jill did a great job.
Naturalists were Emilee and Helen.
No PID today.
