· Megan Hepner, SCCOOS Program Coordinator, will share information
about new projects, data availability, and tools from SCCOOS that relate to
understanding harmful algal blooms, ocean acidification, use of glider
systems, data management for MPA monitoring, local high frequency radar
upgrades, and more.

· Sharing information with the council about basking sharks, their
status, recent sightings in the vicinity of CINMS, and scientific tagging
(Heidi Dewar, Ph.D., Fisheries Research Biologist, Large Pelagics Lab,
NOAA/NMFS Southwest Fisheries Science Center.
· Council questions.

*Coming northbound on U.S. 101 to Santa Barbara:*
1) Take the Cabrillo Blvd exit, EXIT94C, on the left.
2) Turn LEFT onto E Cabrillo Blvd., proceed for 0.89 miles
3) Turn right onto Ninos Drive -- the entrance to Santa Barbara Zoo will
be on your right.
*Coming southbound on U.S. 101 to Santa Barbara:*
1) Exit on MILPAS Street
2) Turn RIGHT onto MILPAS Street (headed south *toward the ocean*) for
approximately ¼ mile
3) Turn LEFT on Calle Puerto Vallarta (this becomes Por la Mar Drive)
4) The road will curve to the right, becoming Ninos Drive.
5) The entrance to Santa Barbara Zoo will be on your left.
*PARKING:*
· Free parking is available. If there is an attendant at the gate,
tell them you are here for the Sanctuary Advisory Council meeting.
*ZOO ENTRANCE and MEETING ROOM LOCATION*:
· For all attending (members and non-members), inform the entrance
gate staff that you are attending the Sanctuary Advisory Council meeting in
the Discovery Pavilion. There should be no admission fee requested.
· The Discovery Pavilion is a short walk from the entrance – proceed
straight ahead, passing the gift shop on your left and the restaurant on
your right – the Pavilion will be on your left.
