Hi every Chaoscopers and especially alpha testers
Here's my comments about the new preview on the version 0.3 alpha.
Memory usage: (640x480):
At run-time: 3964 Ko full screen, 500 Ko if putted in background (minimized)
Running with choosen attractor set (preview mode only):
Gaz -> 36512 Ko, minimized: 848 Ko, 3208 Ko returning full screen
Liquid 33593 Ko, minimized: 836 Ko, full screen again: 3120 Ko
Light: 40736 Ko, minimized: 852 Ko, full screen again: 3132 Ko
Plasma: 41808 Ko, minimized: 848 Ko, on screen again: 3152 Ko
Solid: 35936 Ko, minimized: 864 Ko, on screen again: 3120 Ko
I didn't notice noticeable differences between types of attractors.
On 1024x768 I noticed peaks of memory usage, up to 300 Mo, in first
second of display in Light and plasma mode. After 2 seconds, memory
usage is about 170 Mo and after a minimizing and maximizing it's about
less than 40 Mo and stays at this level until I don't change rendering
mode or don't load a parameter file, even if I press F3. It seems
initialization of a graphic mode, especially light and plasma, requires
lot of useless space in memory wich is only recoverd by minimizing
Chaoscope.
This new preview is a huge improvement over the older version!!
Smoother, great ability for zooming, nicer, great job great Man ! The
only thing I dislike is the new solid mode and it's poor lonesome
spotlight. It looks like an old b&w tv display, not only in preview mode
but in render mode too. By the way, it'a an alpha version, not a
released one, maybe this explains that. For all other colored modes it's
total renewal, excellent job Nicolas, go on!
Have FUN !!!
François
