Hi folks, lots of stuff happening this coming week!
First and foremost, the spring volunteer drive starts on April 9th, that's
tomorrow (Saturday) and runs til Monday, April 22nd. During this time, a lot of
our student volunteers leave for the summer, so we need volunteers to fill up
the spaces they've left for the summer. There will be an announcement to read
up in the booth, so please announce the drive every hour. We also have two
recruitment PSAs on the PSA CD in the booth you can run as well. Encourage your
friends or anyone you think would be a good fit for the station to apply. I'll
also be catching up with all of our in training and off air volunteers to
encourage you to get on the air.
Following up to this, we'll be attending a volunteer fair on April 30th at the
Aberdeen Mall. I've just waiting for our welcome package and I'll be recruiting
volunteers to help out at our information table at the fair. I'll likely need
about 6-8 volunteers to help run the table and hand out station information.
I'll have more on this, like times and locations, likely next week, but if you
are interested now, let me know and I'll put your name down.
We got blindsided yesterday by our flooring contractors coming by. Faith was
already out of town when TRU called me and said they were coming over, so
apologies to anyone who has had to put up with the noise and getting around the
flooring being installed. With luck, it should all be done by next week, but in
the meantime, be careful when coming in the building to avoid stepping on
anything sensitive. The lobby is currently empty, so no work can be done in
there for preparation until the flooring is laid down.
Lastly, We have some great new station produced syndicated programming coming
into the schedule, likely this week. First, we have a new season of Pro Bono
Society shows, produced by the law department at TRU,: 4 new half hour shows.
We've been running past Pro Bono shows as part of Locally Produced, but now I
will set up a dedicated half hour to the show, now that we have about 10 half
hour shows in the mix. In addition, we're adding a new podcast being produced
by TRU Alumni Association simply called the TRU Alumni show (half hour) and a
half hour show about service learning and volunteering, with stories from
international students and local volunteer organizations. I have the first half
hour produced with about 3 more in process, plus more interviews in the coming
weeks. Times for the shows will be announced soon.
Thanks everyone, keep making great programming!
