Hi folks, a lot to pass on to you this week.
First, I finally got some time to look at the connections up in the production
booth. After crawling around under the board and checking the wires, I now have
all the equipment hooked up through the board. That means you can now run the
CD players through the board and use the space as a prep area again.
A reminder for everyone to email me if you can participate in the Yearender
broadcast, Sunday, December 18th. I've emailed all of our on air programmers
this week, and I'll be emailing all off air, in training volunteers and subs
next week. The schedule is filling up, and I'll be sharing it with you later on
in the week, once I slot a few more people. Check your email for my emails I
send out last week or watch your email box next week for more information.
With Christmas approaching, I've been adding the new Christmas music coming in
up into the on air booth. More will be added next week as I get through it. If
you are looking for older Christmas music to play, you'll find it in the cold
cellar storage area in the basement.
Also, with the end of the year approaching, it's time to start thinking about
your picks for your favourite albums of 2022. Every year, we publish volunteer
Top 10s of their favourite new music from the past year and put it up on our
website [ http://www.thex.ca/ ;| www.thex.ca ] And, with live music back, we'll
also be publishing your picks for favourite live shows from the past year too.
Deadline for submitting your lists will be December 31st.
We've also got the year end awards coming up too. I'll be putting out the
ballot box for Programmer of the Year on Monday, December 5th. From the 5th to
the 18th, you can cast your votes for your 3 favourite on air shows/programmers
of the year. The programmer with the most votes will win a trophy and a special
prize pack, plus 3 runners up will also get prize packs. We'll also be choosing
a random voter for a prize pack, so make sure you vote! And station management
will also be choosing a Volunteer of the Year (and runner up) and a Newcomer of
the Year (and runner up).
Lastly, we've got our first event of the New Year already lined up too. We'll
be at the TRU Winter Resource Fair recruiting volunteers, on January 5th from
11 AM to 2 PM. We'll need volunteers for this, so if you already know you can
help, please let me know.
Thanks everyone!
