CEE EVENT: Darwin's Birthday Debate
15th Feb 2017 - 4pm
Flett LT, Natural History Museum, Exhibition Road, London.
On the Origins of the Domestic Dog
In early March, 1867, Charles Darwin settled in to check the proofs of his
latest book, "The Variation of Animals and Plants Under Domestication". Now,
150 years later, we discuss the nature of the domestication process in perhaps
the first and most important example - the dog.
Our speakers will debate the big questions surrounding canine domestication:
when did it happen, where and how many times, and of course, who is a good dog?
The Centre for Ecology and Evolution are delighted to present our speakers,
Professors Greger Larson (University of Oxford) and Love Dalen (Stockholm
Museum of Natural History).
No booking required. Talks are followed by a wine reception.

CEE EVENT: Spring Symposium
4th April 2017
University College London
Predicting Biodiversity Change and Impacts on Ecosystem Function
In this symposium, we will bring together researchers modelling changes in
local biodiversity over large scales (regional to global) with researchers
working on the relationship between local biodiversity change and ecosystem
functions and services, to discuss how human pressures have and will affect the
structure and functioning of ecological systems. We will convene scientists
working on a variety of systems (freshwater, marine and terrestrial) and using
diverse approaches (from mechanistic to phenomenological). The symposium should
generate new insights into the important question of how humans are shaping
global ecosystems.
If you would like to submit an abstract for the symposium please do so before
17th Feb. via the online submission
form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPRiguFLfibq3Y6GH1jBzQeUmG12W_MvZ-yeLK_tslZXr-0g/viewform>.
Online tickets will be made available at
