Hi Julie,
That sounds great! We typically have 20, 30, and 40 minute talks. The 20
minutes are usually students, but you’re welcome to give a short talk if you
think that’s better for the work. We usually just let people pick whatever they
prefer.
Best,
Rachel

Rachel,
How long are the regular talks? I forget.
Would you be interested in a talk on how we found functions for the coloring
book? It isn't deep, but it does cover some ground in complex dynamics. It
is partly related to the talk I gave there before, but only partly related.
Anyway, let me know if that is of interest. I'm doing an undergrad talk on
it this weekend in Texas that is 50 minutes, and I could take out the most
basic parts to shorten to whatever length you would want. But, again, it
isn't terribly deep.
Let me know what you think.
Julie

Subject: [cdynsys] Carolina Dynamics Symposium Information
Hi all,
Please see below for updated information about the 2018 Carolina Dynamics
Symposium.
Date and Location: April 13-15, 2018 at Agnes Scott College in Decatur
(Atlanta), GA.
The conference will begin with an undergraduate colloquium talk Friday
afternoon, continue with research talks Saturday (and a conference dinner
that night), and conclude with more research talks Sunday morning, ending
before lunch.
Keynote Speakers:
Albert Fathi
Howie Weiss
Colloquium Speaker:
Sarah Day (will also give an invited talk on Saturday or Sunday)
Registration: Please CLICK HERE to register.
Accommodations: We have booked a block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott in
downtown Decatur. Follow this link to make a reservation by March 23. You can
also call
404-371-0204 to make a reservation with group name "Carolina Dynamics."
Additional hotel information, including an alternative hotel, is available on
the website.
Additional Talks: As usual, we are inviting talks from all participants. If
you would like to give a talk, then please reply to me or Jim to indicate
your interest by Monday, February 26. We will send another email requesting
your title and abstract shortly after that. We also highly encourage talks
from graduate students!
Proceedings: We plan to publish proceedings from the conference, edited by
the two 2018 Carolina Dynamics co-organizers, Rachel Rossetti and Jim
Wiseman, along with Jane Hawkins from UNC Chapel Hill. We invite everyone
who attends (not just the speakers) to submit a manuscript to the
proceedings. The manuscripts will be refereed as a journal publication and
subject to the same standards (originality and previously unpublished
results). You can also consider writing a survey article of a topic of
current interest to you and others in dynamics.
Undergrad Poster Session: We are organizing a poster session to involve
undergraduate participants. If you have students who are interested in the
poster session, then please let us know.
Website: All of the above information is also available on the website. We
will keep the website updated as new information becomes available.
We are looking forward to seeing you in April!
Best,
Rachel Rossetti
