All,
Here are a number of updates:
1) Mario and Claudia made it safely to Spain. Hereports: “…we made it
safely. Madrid is indeed beautiful city. We're dealingwith jet lag…thank God
Karina is reported stable”
2) Steve Jacobsen will be the guest minister onSunday. His sermon title is
“TheMe Inside My Tent” A short bio can be found in the attached bulletin.
3) The bulletin and lyrics for Sunday areattached. They will also be
available inpaper form at the outdoor service. Offerings can be placed in the
basket on the same table.
4) The church sanctuary has been emptied offurniture. The damaged carpet,
tile,cabinets and drywall have been removed. We are awaiting samples of carpet,
tile, cabinets and paint to selectreplacements. The total project time
islikely to 6-8 weeks (i.e., end of October). Hopefully the weather will
cooperate for continued outdoor services
5) Zoom Coffee Hour is going to be put onhiatus. The last two Saturdays
had onlyone participant – me. Vacations, travel,and an opportunity to
fellowship on Sundays have made this activity lessattractive. So until further
notice, nomore Zoom Coffee Hour on Saturdays.
6) Nicole recently sent me the following texts:
a. I just wanted to let you know that I made itofficial at work today. My
last day withmy current company will be December 3. You have my full
permission to begin publiclyacknowledging I will be coming to CDCC and will
begin January 1.
b. I wanted to let you know about a little bit ofgood news I had a few
weeks ago. One of my favorite books is “The Haunting ofHill House” by Shirley
Jackson. My favorite character in the book is namedTheodora. Well the Penfield
Players, aTheater company here in Rochester, is putting on the stage adaptation
of thatbook around Halloween. And I was cast asone of the 2 leads…Theodora.
To say I amexcited about this would be an understatement. I have never had a
part this big. We were even named in the local newspaperas one of the most
anticipated shows of the upcoming theater season. I’m tellingyou all this to
say that the gift of time that the church has given me hasallowed me to do some
things that are extremely necessary for my own growth andhealing. And I will
never be able to stop thinking you for that.
