offer it for sale to club members. That way it goes to a worthy home and
when I’m next in New Zealand, I might be able to visit it and make some
swarf for old times’ sake.
It is a Colchester Master, 6.5” swing, with an exposed belt drive, fitted
with a 1hp 240V electric motor.
I can’t recall exactly what tooling it has with it, but there are
definitely three and four jaw chucks, a face plate, numerous cutters (HSS
and tungsten), boring bars and drills. Some was my grandfather’s, but I
bought a lot of new tooling as well. There is also a steady and several
very heavy boxes of steel and brass stock for turning.
There is a picture attached. The white chest of drawers in the picture
will come with the lathe. It is full of tooling.
There is next to no play in the moving parts and all the feeds work as
they should.
It is currently in storage in Paraparaumu. I would recommend using a truck
with a tail-lift or hi-ab to move it. BYO Hernia-belt.
If you are interested, let me know and a viewing can be arranged. I should
be able to get more photos too if need be. I’m asking $800, which seems
like nothing considering the utility and pleasure I got from it. Sadly, it
doesn’t make sense to pay for storage and never get any use out of it.
