REMINDER: This Saturday, August 11, is the annual Perseids Meteor Shower Camp-Out at the Caesar Creek Beach. Now, this is the one event you should plan to make each summer! When the weather is decent, we've seen over 200-300 campers and upwards of 20 or more telescopes. The forecast is still a bit iffy yet again this year, so keep your fingers crossed! The park has programs planned for the camping kids and adults from 7:00-11:00, including an astronomy presentation again this year at 8:30 by myself and Mike Smith of CAS. This year, unlike years past, the activities start lots earlier, at 2:00 with Kayaking. The park also allows camping on the beach grounds this one night of the year. COME ON OUT! Please note: THE TELESCOPE AREA WILL BE JUST NORTH OF THE RESTROOMS/PAVILION, IN THE GRASS, NEAR THE SERVICE AREA THAT IS ENCLOSED BY THE WHITE FENCING. Here's the "official" release on this event from the Park's own announcement. Caesar Creek State Park The Beach August 11, 2012 2pm-5pm Free Kayak Excursions 7:00-8:30pm - Registration for Camping.
