Bit later than normal, especially after the phenomenonal week 🇦🇹 members have
had but it's great to continue that #FridayFeeling by announcing our weekly
Press Report is now LIVE 🥳🎉💃🕺
We normally announce this by jokingly putting our news in the context of what
is happening on a national scale but it would be remiss of this week to not
start on a serious point. Earlier this week former member, Valley resident and
friend of many in the club, @_alisonwalker_ was attacked whilst running on
holiday. We find it simply unacceptable that in our day and age half of our
population have to think about whether they've taken safety precautions when
they go out for a run, wherever that may be. Whilst this is the behaviour of a
minority it's up to all of us to weed them out and call it what it is -
unacceptable.
Women's captain Cass Chisholm commented “These guys are disgusting and
abhorrent. In general I feel safe out running on my own but there are places
that I feel very on edge if I’m there in the dark.” The words 'she went out for
a run' should mean simply that 😡
Putting that aside, and going back to what running should be about, and
something we'll continue to fight for it being about for EVERYONE🥰, this weeks
report features some fantastic efforts from the 🇦🇹's. Including:
🎉 Our stunning v40 Women continue where they left off last year with Turbo
Twins, those Sisters of Speed Natasha Butterfield & Susannah Richardson helping
the WV40s to 1st team coming 3rd & 4th at the first English champs counter at
Flower Scar 🔥
🎉 Not to be outdone our even older blokes led by Gavin Mulholland & Earl Grey
in 1st & 2nd (where else 🤷♂️) secure 1st v50 team 👴
🎉That Welsh wizard, the Bethesda Bazooka Matthew Roberts put in a strong
performance to place 2nd v40🏴
🎉The Ludd Loco Martin Howard demonstrate his local form on the national level
to finish 1st 🇦🇹 and 12th overall in a very strong field 🚂💨
🎉 Elsewhere 'lightning' Clara McKee continue to make headlines finishing 27/340
and 2nd West Yorks counter at a very flat national English school x country
champs. As her mum Trudi Entwisle remarkes "Not bad for a fell runner!" ⚡️
🎉 @hollyapage back on Team GB duties having been selected for the 2024 European
Off-Road Running Championships in May🥳
🎉New Member Daniel Holt take on his first Ultra 💪👌
