I've been a bit late with the champs results from April as I was waiting
for some new beads for my abacus, but I do believe this is now up to date
with everyone who has emailed me their times.
A couple of these have given me some headaches as there was some
interesting route choice with the flags not being out. When a runner
raised an issue at Mytholmroyd about another runner taking what might be
deemed a shortcut, though with the terrain might equally have made that
detour harder and slower. We had a chat at committee and eventually applied
a 1 minute penalty for a minor infringement.
So when half the runners at the bunny run had invented their own version of
the course I decided to continue that arbitrary penalty. Yes I should
really have compared gpx overlays and looked at time taken to cover a
section of track, maybe even gone out to survey it and see if these detours
actually made it harder or easier, but at the end of the day I'd rather be
running, so that's what I've gone for.
Hopefully 1 minute isn't going to put anyone out of the competition, though
it may have had some small effect on some of the placings.
Currently we have Jocasta Fletcher leading the Ladies Table and Dan Pope
leading the Overall.
Our Short Race King and Queen Titles are being held by Toby Sid and Cass
Chisholm.
But we are only in May and there is still plenty to play for, so this month
head out on the Hebden Bridge Fell Race course.

with regard to my earlier observations on minor deviations: for the Hebden
Bridge route there are 2 areas where route choice deviations are going to
be overlooked as there are multiple options that have been official through
the years.
Climbing Cock Hill Moor, take any route you like.
Returning from Stoodley, the hole in the wall has been filled in so you can
just retrace your steps when heading for Dicks Lane
