FYI, BRL-CAD 7.0.0 is now available. Cheers! Sean ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 31 Oct 2004 17:03:26 -0500 From: Lee A. Butler <butler@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Announcing BRL-CAD 7.0 All, I am pleased to be able to announce the availability of BRL-CAD release 7.0 for download. Please see: http://ftp.arl.army.mil/brlcad/downloads/Rel7.0/ Perhaps the most significant change that you will immediately see is that this distribution is provided as compressed tar files (with the exception of the Mac platform). Users of Irix and Linux will have slightly different installation procedures than in the past. Please read the web pages carefully. The second thing that will become apparent for binary installation users is a change in the installation directory names. In order to support those who run more than one version of BRL-CAD, this release installs into /usr/brlcad7.0 instead of the previous /usr/brlcad. Furthermore, to support multiple architectures being stored on the same server, a sub-directory is in place under /usr/brlcad7.0 to hold the architecture specific installation. For example, on Linux/Pentium systems, you will find /usr/brlcad7.0/ia32 is the installation directory. Please adjust your PATH environment variables to reflect the new naming convention. Lee A.
