Even though I uninstalled IYP and installed it again, and loaded the
flight into FSX, I still get the following message. THE
SIMULATOR IS RUNNING
NO AIRCRAFT HAS BEEN DETECTED.

This one was a bit annoying for me too. I ended up just uninstalling the
app, and reinstalling it and typing in my registration key at the first
opportunity. I know their’s probably a less ridiculous way to get to the
dialog in question. Part of the problem is that the app moves rather quickly
past the registration step if you start it with the simulator running. If
you do registration after install at least you have all the time you need to
enter the key.
