There was a lot of important information covered at tonight's meeting,
which I said I would summarize in an email...
*Signup for this weekend**:* We are on track to testing on Saturday the
2nd, with backup on Sunday the 3rd. Please signup on the link as normal:

*Elections:* All E-Board positions are put up for re-election each year.
The available positions are listed below with descriptions as they have
come to suit BURPG. These descriptions are not meant to be black and white
jurisdictions of each potion, but rather provide a general idea of the most
common tasks. The roles are often fluid to best suit the situation at hand
and people's skill sets:
- *Director*: Handles university and external relations, including
networking. This is to obtain resources for the team, sponsorships and act
on fundraising opportunities. University relationships also extend to
satisfying university requirements for outreach and generally keeping
administrators happy with BURPG. The Director also handles legal, safety,
and environmental concerns for both the university and Sudbury. Finally,
the Director is in charge of high level resource management, long term
planning and organization to make sure that BURPG can operate properly.
- *Vice Director*: Comparatively more technical than the Director, the
Vice Director adopts an engineering management or lead engineer role. The
Vice Director handles more day-to-day management, and is a more direct
interface with the engineering process. This includes helping to organize
members and project teams, creating and maintaining short term schedules,
helping guide high-level technical and systems engineering decisions, and
organizing projects moving through EPIC and SIF. As someone who is more
deeply involved with the engineering process, the Vice Director is the
first line for conflict management.
- *Chief Financial Officer (Treasurer)*: In charge of direct money and
resource management, the CFO often works with ME accounting to track funds
and purchases. This includes maintaining budget spreadsheets and
consolidating the PCard. The CFO must maintain an understanding of BURPG
money use to help resolve balance conflicts that may arise with ME
accounting.
- *Chief Operating Officer (Secretary)*: The COO is mainly in charge of
working with the university on safety training for the team, lab access
issues, or otherwise being the one who manages paperwork that needs to be
handled by members of the team. The COO also interfaces with SAO on similar
issues and manages BURPG's OrgSync page.
As for the election process, if you are going to be running, please fill
out the form linked here by the 31st. The form is so members can see how
the race for the various positions are shaping up and may be helpful in
deciding what positions to run for:

If you are running, please prepare for the team meeting on the 4th a brief
campaign speech- about 5 minutes/one paragraph. Please also email your
campaign blurb to Tom; he will be officiating the elections since he is
graduating. At the meeting on the 4th, you will give your campaign speech,
and then Tom will email out all the blurbs and open the polls after the
meeting. The polls will be online until the 8th at midnight, at which point
they will be closed and the results revealed on Monday the 11th at the
meeting. The online voting will be anonymous, but will require sign-in
using your BU email to prevent fraud.
*Test Prep Tasks and Upcoming Stuff:* As discussed at the meeting, there is
a list of things that need to be done ahead of testing this weekend, as
well as for the upcoming tests. We need people to start volunteering to
help with some of these things. If you are interested in helping, please
contact the responsible person listed next to the tasks. Certain things,
especially fluid system related items, are ongoing and stopping by the lab
is a good way of getting invovled with those.
- Fluid system assembly: Pete/Jeremy
- Tank assembly: Doug/Joe/Jeremy
- FireX system: Tom/Pete
- Pyrobolt testing: Tom (near future)
- Thurs 10pm: Bellows Tooling PDR
- Thurs 10:30pm: Ring Joint CDR
*Aerojet Internships: *Playing hardball with Aerojet finally paid off, and
they got back to me on potential internship and sponsorship matters. While
a sponsorship may not be a possibility until next year, they are looking
for interns. If you are interested in applying, please apply online (which
many of you probably have already) and also email me your resume and
portfolio. I am forwarding these items to my Aerojet contact, who will then
ensure these items end up on the right peoples' desks. When you email me,
please also include the positions you applied for.
