Dear All
The try dive is tomorrow. Julian is now unable to be there and we need 6
instructors to take try divers in the water. I suggest the following - please
could you each confirm that you are ok for it. In particular, please let me
know asap if you can't make it.
Stuart, Charlie, Alan S, Paul, Bryan, Jordan.
Other helpers "dry side" to help with kitting up and hosting spectatators would
be much appreciated.

From previous emails we seem to have more than enough Instructors available,
which is great. Names I have are as below. Jenny and I are happy not to be
in the water but to help with dry side. If anyone else can’t now make it
could you please let me know asap.
As usual anyone who can help dryside and talking to parents and friends will
be helpful.
Tim – are we OK with enough kit, especially re the small jackets and fins?
Paul has got plenty of souvenir packs to hand out – Paul do you need
certificates printing or is that all OK?
George has offered to do photos but usually they are not permitted in the
pool when it open to the public. I will contact the manager again to see
if we can get a dispensation but they have been quite firm in the past.
Colin has agreed for his group to give these weeks a miss so hopefully that
will help with overcrowding.
Instructor / assistant instructors who have said they are available are:

Dear Bob
Many thanks, that is really helpful especially that you have all the
documentation already done which will save time on the day. Hopefully the
number of small sizes required won’t be a problem but I will let you know if
it is once I have checked with our equipment officer.
I am intending to be at the pool on Monday so look forward to seeing you
there at around 20.30.

Dear Andrew
I hope this finds you well.
Please find below the promised list of cadets and sizing information for the
first group of cadets participating in the try dive on 23rd January at Cheam
Baths. I can confirm that I have all their required documentation. I'm afraid
there's not a lot of difference in sizes as these are all from the same year
group. Please let me know if this is a problem.
I'm still trying to get paperwork sorted with the second group (hence they're
in the second group), due to dive on 30th January. I will get their details
to you ASAP.
I will be at the baths next Monday to meet and supervise cadets. I look
forward to seeing you , if you're there. If you're unlikely to be there,
please let me know who I need to liaise with.

Hi Bob
Happy new year and I hope you had a good Christmas.
These dates seem to work for us so happy to go ahead with those. I will need
details of shoe and "t-shirt" sizes in advance so that we can gather the
right size kit together. If you could get those to me sooner rather than
later that would be a real help.
The intention would be to do about 6 try dives on each of the 2 weeks so the
numbers you quote seem to work ok. We will also need confirmation that none
of them have any ailments (including the common cold), or medical conditions
or any medication they are on. The parents will have to sign a medical form
and disclaimer before any child under 18 is allowed to dive. They will also
need to complete an Activity Consent form. I attach copies – if these can be
completed in advance and brought on the night it will help save some time.
All participants should be at the leisure centre to meet us in the foyer by
20.30 on the night so that we can organise kit, collect forms and give them a
briefing. That should mean they can make the most of the pool time we have
from 21.00. Each participant must bring their own normal swimming togs and
£1 coins for the lockers. They may also find it more comfortable if they
have an old T short to wear, though that is not essential. We have to be out
of the pool by 22.00 so, after changing etc, they should be ready to leave by
about 22.30. A participants get an info pack and, if you let us have the
names in advance, a certificate. Family and friends are very welcome to
watch from the viewing gallery and will be able to talk to other club
members.

Hi Andrew and many thanks for your e-mail below.
I've got eleven cadets signed up for a try-dive and have in mind provisional
dates of 23rd and 30th of January. If these suit, please let me know ASAP and
I will start gathering size information in the new year so that I can split
the groups as evenly as I can in respect of sizes.
If the dates are not convenient, please feel free to suggest some
alternatives.
Many thanks and wishing you a great Christmas.

Hi Bob
That sounds fine to me. At the moment I think it would be fairly safe to
say we could probably do most Mondays (except Bank Holidays). We have the
pool from 21.00 to 22.00 but everyone would need to arrive at 20.30 so that
we could sort out paperwork, brief them and get the right size kit for them.
We would be able to cope with about 6 at a time so if there were more than
that it would probably be better to have 2 events on different days. The
only real practical considerations for me are that I need to make sure we
have enough instructors available and enough kit of the right sizes. We also
share the pool with another group of divers so we would arrange for them not
to be there that week otherwise it gets too crowded. As before it is fine if
parents etc want to come and watch. Their parents would also have to sign a
medical and permission form. Ae can deal with all the details nearer the
time but hopefully this gives you something to work with in the meantime. If
you would like a poster to put up somewhere let me know.
All the best and have a great Christmas

That's great Andrew. Thank you.
What I'll do, if okay with you, is put a notice out to gauge interest but
won't give specific dates at the moment, just stating that arrangements will
be as per last time i.e groups of six on a Monday night at Cheam Baths. I'll
just say that it will be in the spring term.

Bob

Hi Bob
We can certainly do something for you again. I can't recall off the top of
my head which pool you came to. We used to be at Banstead Leisure centre but
when they moved into their new premises earlier this year the new pool was
useless for scuba so we are now at Cheam Leisure Centre. Not that far away
so hopefully not a problem for you. Realistically we can cope with about 6
at a time but could do multiple weeks or something if you had more than that.
I am off out of the country tomorrow for a couple of weeks so can't do
anything else at the moment but can sort something out when I get back.
Realistically it is going to be a date in the new year sometime so hope that
is ok for you.
All the best
Andrew

Dear Andrew
I hope this e-mail finds you well.
You may recall that your dive club were kind enough to lay on some try-dives
for cadets from my CCF contingent in March of this year. I am currently
planning for next year and wondered if it might be possible to repeat this
fantastic experience for newer cadets. We have had a larger than average
intake of recruits this term so I imagine that uptake will be fairly
considerable. My questions are;
1. Would your club be prepared to lay something similar on, and
2. If so, how many can you realistically cope with?
Thank you again for what you did this year and I look forward to hearing from
you.
Kind regards
