Local Notice to Mariners 05 of 2017
Open Water Swim Event
MARINERS ARE ADVISED that an open water swim will take place on the River
Arun on Saturday 24th June 2017. Approximately 450 swimmers will be entering
the water at the Ship and Anchor Marina at 1245 and will race to the Public
Slipway (RNLI Station) to finish between 1325 and 1405.
Swimmers will be escorted by safety boats and kayaks throughout. No other
vessels will be permitted to transit the river past these swimmers. The
river will be closed to all other traffic between the Ship and Anchor Marina
and the Public Slipway (RNLI Station) for the duration of the race.
The harbour patrol launch will also be on the water for the duration of the
race and will be listening on VHF Ch71. All vessels are instructed to
maintain a good look out, keep well clear of swimmers and follow any
instructions issued by the harbour launch.
